I get it, “happiness” doesn’t really exist.
It’s fleeting.
At the same time, most of us instinctively know what happiness means, so we’re going to stick to that in this article.
Here are 10 small habits that will make you happier than 98% of people.
1. Stop looking for happiness.
Chasing “happiness” only reinforces the fact that you’re not getting there.
This is one of life’s greatest paradoxes, and it could be the reason why you continue to live in the dark.
2. Have a relentless passion for helping others succeed.
We often think that this kind of enthusiasm doesn’t come naturally to us. We are too busy making ourselves successful.
But as I’ve realized over the years, like any other field, we grow into it.
The more you do it, the more it will come naturally.
Supporting and lifting others takes the focus off of you, makes you less self-conscious, and at the same time brings in insane levels of good karma.
Focus unduly on helping others succeed.
3. Refuse to live life as a victim.
95% of victims are of their own making.
Most of us secretly like to feel like victims because it robs us of our agency.
Placing blame and identifying yourself as someone who needs love and attention only makes life worse.
There are two modes:
creator and victim.
Please choose the first one.
4. Understand the difference between being reckless and incurring high upside risk.
Both look dangerous, but only one will secretly fill your tank with luxurious gold coins.
What is high upside risk?
It often feels scary, but the downside is low and the upside is high.
Maybe it’s starting a creative project, hosting a solo podcast, inviting someone for coffee, writing a vulnerable article, creating great art, going on a long hike, or asking for help. It may be something to ask for.
These are good risks.
Incorporating these into your life every day will increase your happiness.
5. Become incredibly skilled at something.
You can be a jack of all trades if you want to, but never at the expense of being outstanding at one thing.
Our happiness is not determined by how well we are recognized by others, but by how useful we are in society.
6. Brainstorm like a badger.
There’s a cheeky secret you should know about badgers.
They are brainstorming feverishly in our little hidden underground hideout. Little devils plotting a conspiracy.
Brainstorming is one of the easiest and most enjoyable creative acts.
We feed the creative fire with creative fuel and make creative golden piping hot bread.
Do some more brainstorming. you will be happier.
7. Reconnect with nature on a regular basis.
It sounds horribly cliché, but it’s such a cliché and we’ve come full circle that it’s good advice again.
Moreover, in our busy modern lives, we can easily forget this.
This means setting aside time every week, and ideally every day, to get out into a field, forest, fjord, swamp, or foothills and enjoy nature.
You are a human, not a cyborg. As always, you need to deeply experience nature.
8. Be relentlessly intolerant of any ideas that make you uncomfortable.
The problem for most of us is that we think our thoughts have meaning.
People guided by ego dependent on self-preservation.
The best thoughts come from the void left in your mind when you relax.
They are never positive. They always feel good.
Our default state is to feel good because we are not punishing ourselves in the dim theater of a frightened mind.
9. Do more of what you want to do.
I’m talking about something healthy that you keep thinking about doing but then come up with excuses not to do.
In my case, it’s building my own hut. I’ve been putting up with it for years and it’s time to do something about it.
First, let’s learn about woodworking.
10. Keep asking, “How can I use this?”
There’s no doubt that there are a lot of things going on in your head right now that you don’t like.
You experienced a setback.
Sally doesn’t respond to your text messages.
Jacob made a mean comment about you by the water cooler.
I’m worried that something like this will happen next week.
A major happiness hack is to take whatever is stressing you out and turn it into fuel.
To do this, ask the questions above.
In some strange way, everything can turn into a blessing.
let’s try it.
It will change your life.
