Splash Mountain at Magic Kingdom recently underwent major changes, turning the old attraction into the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Crews are painting a mural on the ride row barn, and the Br’er Rabbit weather vane has been removed. However, work continues on the details of the mountain.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Construction
Trees were removed from the peninsula a few weeks ago and new grass was planted. Green tubes are located around the peninsula, at the edge of the waterway.
We haven’t seen much work in the area lately, but during Wednesday’s trip we saw crews in the tunnel on the left under the bridge.
Earlier this month, part of the fake rock was torn off the right wall. It was then rebuilt around square panels.
One of the crew members was sweeping away the debris.
Most of the actual mountain is covered with scaffolding. Over the past few weeks, new artificial foliage has been planted, transforming the western mountains into a Louisiana bayou.
Several crew members could be seen on the right side of the mountain, near the remaining trees. The new rock beneath the tree is painted the same reddish-brown color as the rest of the mountain.
Dark green moss crawls on the rocks at the front and center of the mountain.
A steel frame has been erected on top of the mountain where a large tree once stood. The framework is the beginning of the new roof/top.
Currently, the front of the factory is covered with plywood, and you can climb up the mountain through it.
As I turned the corner, I saw moss growing on the rocks around the tree.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Splash Mountain’s re-theming, inspired by “The Princess and All,” was first announced in 2020, and the name of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure was revealed in 2022.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure begins after the events of “The Princess and the Frog.” In 1927, Tiana founded her co-op, Tiana’s Foods. The cooperative is located in a salt mine, where cultivators grow crops by the water. In Tiana’s Bayou Her Adventure, Tiana and Louis the alligator venture into the bayou to find their animal friends. They are preparing a special Mardi Gras celebration for the people of New Orleans.
The scene depicted in the concept art above is “the thrilling moment when you first land on the bayou and meet new and familiar friends.” Louis and the Animals Band plays Zydeco music, a blend of rhythm and blues created in Louisiana. The group of animal friends includes an otter, a rabbit, a raccoon, a beaver, and a turtle, all playing musical instruments made from natural bayou elements.
The ride features 17 new characters, including Prince Naveen’s younger brother, Ralphie. The Splash Mountain track will remain, but the attraction will feature new set decorations and a range of new audio-animatronics.At Destination D23, Disney Look at Louis’ animatronics.
Multiple Tiana audio-animatronics appear and she wears new adventurous outfits. In June, Disney shared a video of a live performer wearing this costumeIt is hinted that Tiana will appear in adventure gear outside of the attraction as well.
The music for Cue and Attraction was arranged by award-winning artists PJ Morton and Terrence Blanchard, and mixes classic songs from the film with New Orleans classics and original compositions. The scent of beignets also wafts throughout the queue.
Some of the original cast will lend their voices to the attraction, including Anika Noni Rose (Tiana), Bruno Campos (Naveen), Michael Leon Woolley (Louie), and Jennifer Lewis (Mama Odie).
