A new study claims a real-life ‘Jurassic World’ may now exist on another planet.
Planets far from Earth may be home to species similar to Earth’s dinosaurs, and humans are currently lacking the ability to find them, according to a new study published in the Monthly Notices of the Journal of the Royal Astronomical Society. It is possible that he has it.
Study author Lisa Kaltenegger said: “Modern Earth’s bright fingerprints provide a template for identifying potentially habitable planets, but this fingerprint is even more pronounced and shows signs of life. There was a time when they were better than others,” study author Lisa Kaltenegger said in a statement to The Sun.
According to the study, researchers on Earth were able to detect such life forms by looking for compounds that don’t exist on Earth today but were present during the time of the dinosaurs. That’s because during the time of the dinosaurs, the Earth’s oxygen concentration was high at around 30%, making it possible for complex organisms to grow. Currently, Earth’s oxygen levels have leveled off at 21%.
These high oxygen concentrations could hold clues to the type of life that exists on distant planets, researchers claim, and with special telescopes they can reveal what dinosaurs faced millions of years ago. It is pointed out that situations similar to the situation can be detected.
One clue scientists can look for is whether the planet is in the Phanerozoic phase. During the Phanerozoic phase, the planet would become habitable to large and complex life forms.
“Although the Phanerozoic Era is only about 12% of Earth’s recent history, it includes almost all of the time when life was more complex than microbes and sponges,” said Cornell University scientist Rebecca Payne. Cornell University scientist Rebecca Payne told The Sun. “This gives us hope that it might become a little easier to find traces of life elsewhere in the universe, even large-scale, complex life. I’ll give it to you.”
Kaltenegger said exploring planets with high oxygen levels could lead to the discovery of interesting life forms, while also making exploration easier.
“Hopefully, we’ll find some planets that happen to have more oxygen than Earth right now, because that will make the search for life a little bit easier,” Kaltenegger said. “And perhaps there are other dinosaurs waiting to be discovered.”
