Dubai’s main roads are set to be closed to coincide with National Day celebrations and the start of Cop28…
Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road will be temporarily closed from 7am to 11am this weekend from Friday 1st December to Sunday 3rd December to divert Cop28 traffic.
All roads leading to Abu Dhabi will be closed from the Trade Center roundabout to Expo Road (Exit 20).

Traffic will be diverted to alternative routes including Jumeirah Street, Al Khail Road, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Al Wasl Road, Sheikh Zayed Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Road and Emirates Road. will be bypassed.
The temporary closure coincides with the National Day celebrations and the start of Cop28, which will be held at Expo City.
The Road Transport Authority (RTA) has advised commuters to use public transport. Last week, RTA also announced changes to the Dubai Metro timetable to make it easier for visitors to travel to and from Expo City Dubai during this period. Dubai Metro will operate from 5am to 1am the next day from Thursday 30th November to Tuesday 12th December 2023.
What is COP28?
The 28th COP28 Annual Summit will be held here at Expo City in Dubai, UAE. The summit will run from Thursday, November 30th to Tuesday, December 12th.
The annual summit is a place for world leaders to come together and collaborate on solutions to tackle the most pressing climate change challenges. This year is an important year, as it is the seventh year since the first Paris Agreement (an international treaty on climate change), and there are only seven years left until 2030.

Expo City is divided into two areas: the Green Zone and the Blue Zone. The Green Zone is open to the public and includes the Sustainability Pavilion, Expo City Farm, Ghaf Food Park and Al Wasl Dome.
