A Nicaragua-bound plane carrying more than 300 Indian passengers has been grounded in France on suspicion of “human trafficking,” authorities said, according to AFP news agency.
Paris prosecutors told news agency AFP the plane was carrying passengers who “may be victims of human trafficking” and added that they were detained on Thursday following an anonymous tip.
France’s anti-organized crime force, Junarco, is investigating the incident, officials said.
The A340 operated by Legend Airlines “remained stationary on the tarmac at Vatry airport even after landing,” AFP news agency said, citing information from the northeastern Marne department.
The plane was scheduled to refuel and was carrying 303 Indian nationals.
