A minor derailment caused by a collision between two trains near 96th Street Station could affect subway service on many lines in Manhattan starting Thursday night and continuing into Friday.
The MTA is recommending a partial suspension of 1/2/3 train service until at least the end of Thursday. Officials say they hope to have it back up and running by the Friday morning commute, but that will depend on progress in removing the tracks overnight.
The MTA warned of the following impacts:
- train number 1 137 St-Between City College and Times Sq-42 St. MTA says take A/B/C/D/R/W trains or local buses.
- 2 no trains It’s on the West Side of Manhattan. The MTA says to use his N/Q/R trains between Manhattan and Brooklyn. Between Manhattan and the Bronx, take the Bx19. For Manhattan, take the A/B/C/D trains.
- 3 no trains Between 135th Street and 42nd Street in Times Square. MTA says it will consider A/B/C/D trains or M1, M2, M7 buses.
- Some 4/5 trains Runs locally in Brooklyn.likely to be delayed
- There are about 5 trains running locally in the Bronx.
The MTA advised customers to seek alternative transportation through the area.
