Emerald Fennell’s dark comedy psychological thriller Saltburn premiered at the 50th Telluride Film Festival on August 31, 2023. The film is set in Oxford and Northamptonshire, England, and tells the story of Oxford student Oliver Quick (played by Barry Keoghan). His obsession with aristocratic classmate Felix Catton (played by Jacob Elordi) leads to a disturbing series of events at Felix’s eccentric family estate, Saltburn. The film, released in the United States on November 17, received positive reviews and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
In particular, “Saltburn” has recently taken social media by storm as viewers have taken to the internet to discuss the film’s complex themes and provocative scenes. Especially the infamous scene where Oliver desperately drinks water from Felix’s bathtub. If you haven’t seen this movie yet and don’t know how this captivates audiences so much, you need to witness it for yourself.
Like it or not, this scene also served as the inspiration for a gin drink created by cocktail mixer brand Mr. Consistent.

“We’re not okay, we know it 😳 We don’t think Instagram can handle this cocktail recipe, so Tikki understands 😏,” the brand wrote in the caption of the TikTok video.
The recipe includes Mr. Consistent’s Lychee Martini Cocktail Mix, coconut milk, and Margot Robbie’s (who also helped create Saltburn) Papa Salt Gin. Released in May 2023, this sea-inspired gin boasts tasting notes of hibiscus, citrus peel, nutty wattleseed, pink peppercorn, minerality and salty oyster shell. With creamy coconut milk and subtly salty gin, it’s hard to tell exactly what Mr. Consistent is referring to with this saucy drink.

Pour coconut milk around the rim of a coupe glass and “let it drip,” says Consistent. Next, add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. Strain the cocktail into a glass and it’s ready to serve.
The drink is designed to be served ice-cold, but one TikTok user suggested it should be served warm.
Another person commented: “Someone get this to Barry STAT,” while a third simply wrote: “Dude, this is awful… Thanks for sharing.”
