The Japanese cybersecurity giant, which employed 7,582 people as of June 2023, announced the job cuts on Tuesday, pitching them as part of a business transformation plan.
“Trend Micro has notified 2% of its global team that their roles will be eliminated,” a spokesperson said in a statement. “This decision is consistent with Trend Micro’s business transformation and focus on customer growth through our platform.”
In response to an analyst’s question in November about whether the decline in employee numbers and layoffs had stopped, Trend Micro said it had “no plans to actively increase its workforce.”
