With China looking almost certain to hit its growth target of around 5% in 2023, attention now turns to whether deflation risks, the housing crisis and a lingering decline in confidence will derail efforts to build momentum this year.
Figures to be released on Wednesday will likely show that China’s gross domestic product expanded by 5.2% over the whole of last year, even though the economy lost some momentum in the fourth quarter.
