Many cybercrimes occur every day, but only a few users have started using cyber security tools to keep their privacy and data safe. Many users are concerned about their privacy but don’t take steps to keep their data safe.According to data from malware bytes79% of people in North America say they are concerned about their online privacy, but only 35% use antivirus software.
27% of US consumers use a VPN to protect their data from cyberattacks. Most online platforms and cybersecurity experts recommend using two-factor or multi-factor authentication for your data, but only 24% actually do so. 22% use credit monitoring services to protect their credit cards from hacking attacks. 20% use an ad blocker to avoid seeing ads while using the internet, and 15% use a password manager to keep their passwords safe and ensure they are strong enough doing.
Some users (13%) use browsers that protect their privacy so their data doesn’t get stolen or leaked. His 13% of North American users also use identity theft protection services to protect themselves from identity theft. Because many advertisers use targeted users to serve their ads, 12% of users also use search engines that cannot track their online activities, so their ads are not served. To protect their privacy, 6% of users also use alternatives to popular online tools that can keep their privacy safe, such as Gmail, cloud, and storage. Therefore, this study shows that even though cyber-attacks are on the rise, many users are either unaware of or unwilling to use cyber security tools.
