Samsung’s AI-centric phone
Samsung has spent the absolute majority of its time on new AI features for its phones. Dubbed “Galaxy AI,” these features are a combination of on-device and cloud-based applications that aim to simplify your life by enabling everything AI can do in the modern world.
At the center is an AI voice and text translation feature. Samsung claimed that its live translation feature can automatically interpret audio during a call and provide a computerized version of what was said after one second. Text translations will also appear on screen during the call. The person on the other end of the phone will also translate according to your call.
Samsung touted Chat Assist as another big text-only translation feature, in addition to the Live Translate Interpreter app when you’re talking directly to someone. Your phone’s default Messenger can be set to automatically translate your rambling messages into another language and display the original text directly below new messages. This phone can translate 19 languages including Spanish, French, Japanese, Polish, Italian, Korean, and more.
Chat Assist should also offer a broader Grammarly-like spell-checking service on your phone. In Google Messages, AI can reinterpret text and generate new sentences to sound more “lyrical” or even “Shakespearean.” Google previously showed off some of these features for chatting on Android devices, but Samsung Keyboard also makes writing in other apps more “social” or “professional.” You can also.
Samsung Notes now has access to Note Assist, allowing you to completely reorganize your quick notes and add bullet points and headers for better understanding. If you have terrible handwriting that looks like chicken scratch, Samsung said the Notes app will reorganize your words to make them more readable. Finally, the audio-to-text transcription feature has some AI upgrades that help distinguish between speakers and create a summary of what was said in the recording.
Samsung’s S24 offers better photos directly from Instagram and Snapchat
And of course, there are plenty of AI-enhanced photo editing features. First, if you want to remove junk from all your family photos, the company’s AI pixel replacement feature is there to remove objects in your photos. It also has additional features similar to Adobe Firefly that allow you to crop and rotate images beyond borders to generate artificial parts of your photo. Heck, this system can generate artificial frames within a video to make non-slow motion videos look like slow motion.
The company highlighted its unique photo enhancement feature that can reduce noise and improve image quality. Other features can automatically suggest editing to remove reflections, glare, and other unwanted artifacts from your photos. Samsung says all AI-altered images will have a watermark identifying them as AI, as well as additional tags in their metadata.
Instagram and Snapchat now have access to Samsung’s native photo features such as motion photos and image stabilization. Full HDR is now enabled for Instagram photos as well. Now you don’t have to leave each app to take a photo before uploading it to your social apps.
Samsung and Google further promote AI in mobile phones and cars
Google will be making its next big AI announcement alongside Samsung, and the two companies seem to be getting along pretty well with this latest release. Both samsung galaxy s24 and pixel 8/8 pro becomes the first mobile phone Get search functionality in Circles. Users can press and hold the navigation bar to see a simple interface for swiping, circling, or poking objects and text on the app, which they can then use to perform a full Google search.
Additionally, Google is combining that functionality with its own search AI, allowing users to choose to receive responses from circles for searches from the company’s Search Generative Experience (SGE). This creates an AI response to your queries when you use Circle to Search or a similar multi-search feature in Google Lens.
Additionally, Samsung touted that some AI features on the Galaxy S24 will still be enabled with Android Auto. Now you can automatically summarize group messages, suggest relevant replies, and share ETAs.

All Samsung promised was that through Samsung Health, it would be a new health technology that would become your “personal health partner.” It’s a “powerful and accessible health and wellness device” and perhaps… Oura Smart Ring. Hell, based on that teaser, we don’t even know what it actually looks like other than it’s going to be shaped like a ring.
