Apple today revealed the Vision Pro’s technical specifications as pre-orders begin in the US. However, it appears that one spec was published with an error, as the technical specs page has changed since this morning.
Today we highlighted that the Vision Pro can mirror video to AirPlay-enabled devices at 1080p. This resolution is based on Apple’s display specifications section for screen mirroring.
Then, for some reason, Apple updated the page to clarify that video mirroring via AirPlay isn’t actually full HD. Instead, Vision Pro is rated for 720p video mirroring on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and AirPlay-connected smart TVs.
What’s the reason for the change? Apple previously planned to support 1080p screen mirroring, but the performance may not have met expectations.
In any case, the difference should not affect your purchasing decision. This feature is intended to allow others to see what you see in Vision Pro. This is not a core part of the Vision Pro experience.
