Disney has temporarily closed Disneyland’s iconic attraction, the Haunted Mansion.
The closure, which took place earlier this week, stems from previously announced plans for renovations and additions to the California park’s spooky attractions.
“The Haunted Mansion is currently closed for renovations,” the entertainment giant said on the attraction’s webpage on Tuesday. “Please check here for the latest information.”
As part of the renovation, Disney announced in August that it would expand the attraction’s outdoor queues to “immerse guests in an enhanced theme.”
Some of these include the addition of a greenhouse and new gardens based on characters associated with the Haunted Mansion.
Disney says guests will enjoy special views of the gazebo, fountains and gardens.
Disney plans to build a carriage house-style retail store near the exit.
Disney says the attraction, known for its Doom Buggy, will also add an elevator exit to improve accessibility.
Disney announced in August that Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion would be available in early 2024 with “further details regarding final arrangements.” FOX Business has reached out to the company for additional comment on this project.
Disneyland and Disney’s other domestic parks and experiences generated $5.38 billion in the fourth quarter.
Overall, the Experiences segment brought in $8.16 billion in the period.
In September, Disney announced plans to increase investment in parks and experiences around the world, saying capital spending would reach $60 billion over 10 years.
