According to a new report, the Nintendo Switch 2 will feature an 8-inch LCD screen.
bloomberg Citing a report by Hiroshi Hayase, an analyst at Omdia who specializes in the display market, claims that the unannounced Switch successor will feature an 8-inch LCD screen and will be released in late 2024. For context, the standard Switch has a 6.2-inch screen. Diagonally, the OLED screen is 7 inches.
last year, VGC Said Nintendo was planning to release its next-generation game console in the second half of 2024., the development kit will be in the hands of partner studios. The website, which has an extensive track record of reporting unreleased information, says the next-generation console will be able to be used in portable mode, like the Nintendo Switch, and will feature an LCD screen rather than an OLED screen to keep costs down. . It also reportedly has a cartridge slot for physical games.
Considering that Nintendo released an OLED version of the original Switch console, reports that Nintendo included an LCD screen on the Switch 2 disappointed some fans who were expecting OLED. Earlier this year, another analyst predicted that the Switch 2 would launch at a price of $400, with games priced at $70.
The key question remains: Is the Switch 2 backwards compatible? That is, can you play original Switch games physically or digitally? Doug Bowser, president of Nintendo of America, said: He refused to get caught up in the Switch 2 rumors, but cited his Nintendo Account as essential during the inevitable “transition.”
“Our goal is to minimize the dips that often occur in the last year of one cycle and the beginning of the next,” Bowser said. It is the basis for communicating as we transition. ”
There’s no telling when Nintendo will show off its new console, but the company’s annual February Direct, typically used to prepare for the new year, may give us some hints. Meanwhile, the Switch continues to do well, with “Paper Mario: Thousand Years’ Door HD Remaster” and a new “Princess Peach” game scheduled for release.
While we wait for Nintendo’s inevitable announcement, check out everything we know about the Switch 2.
