Mug cakes have been popular for years, but it can be difficult to find a reliable recipe that yields great results every time.
Individual-sized puddings are made by mixing regular cake ingredients in a mug before cooking in the microwave.
There are lots of recipes online and after trying a few I found Cinnamon Sugar Mug Cake from BBC Good Food and Myriad Recipes.
It took less than 5 minutes from start to finish and quickly became my favorite quick and easy treat.
The first step is to get a good-sized mug, keeping in mind that the dough will rise in the microwave.
material:
For cake:
2 tablespoons soft flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons oil
vanilla essence half teaspoon
pinch of salt
For toppings:
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Method:
First, combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking powder, salt, oil, and vanilla extract in a mug and mix with a fork.
Once the batter is mixed, place it in the microwave for 70 seconds. It should be spongy and completely cooked.
I’ve tried cooking this at full heat many times, and about 60-70 seconds is the ideal time.
Once cooked, remove the mug from the microwave and mix in 1 teaspoon of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
If you sprinkle this on top of a mug cake, you will enjoy a gorgeous crunchy texture when you bite into the mug cake.
In winter, you can also serve microwave mug cakes with ice cream or custard.
Jamie Oliver also recently shared a mug cake recipe, saying it’s perfect for kids when they want a sweet treat.
Chef’s Mug Cake uses only five ingredients, including small bananas, homemade flour, olive oil, brown sugar, and one egg.
Jamie said on TikTok:
“The basics of the recipe are great, and you can flex it to do different things at different times of the year.”
