August 17, 2023 — South Korean alternative meat brand Unlimeat, owned by Zikooin Company, has announced Just Partnered with Egg.
The two companies will sign a brand license agreement and launch new products using Just Egg’s “bi-fold format.” Made with mung beans, known for their high protein content.
The company’s first collaboration item is the ‘100% Plant Protein Bomb Gimbap,’ which incorporates Just Egg’s folded eggs and Unre-Meat’s sausage patties and a variety of plant-based products, such as cheese, to create a traditional gimbap recipe. distinguished.
Gimbap is a popular Korean dish made by wrapping various ingredients in seaweed. Still, unlike sushi rolls, which usually contain only one type of filling, gimbap is a nutritious food with multiple types of vegetables and meat.
This new vegan kimbap focuses on high protein content.
A vegan breakfast sandwich that follows the American trend
The second innovation is a breakfast sandwich inspired by the “convenient handheld format” popular in the United States. Breakfast sandwiches include Korean-style tteokgalbi (grilled short-lipped) patties, cheese, and just eggs.
The vegan patty is based on soy protein and uses onions, garlic, and green onions to add umami.
Just Egg claims its innovation has a much lower environmental impact than traditional chicken eggs. Health-wise, they are cholesterol-free and contain the same amount of protein as a chicken egg.
Zikooin Company has pioneered the alternative meat market in Korea with a variety of products including plant-based Korean barbecue, pulled pork, beef jerky, mandu dumplings, sausages and pepperoni, all under the Unlimeat brand.
The company has also used proprietary technology to develop a plant-based cheese line consisting of vegan cheddar, mozzarella and cream cheese.
Recently, the brand has ventured into the seafood category by launching vegan tuna products.
“Because this collaboration will unite brands with the same beliefs, we hope to develop a range of products using Just Egg’s products and Unlimeat’s plant-based alternatives. It will be an opportunity to expand the range of choices for consumers,” said a spokesperson for Unlimited.
