I’ve been finding real joy in thrifting lately! After two babies and a pandemic (and many other events that contributed to my chronic depression), I wasn’t wearing clothes that made me feel good. I’m in a weird place at 40 with a medium build (about 14) and a personal style that leans toward funky (lots of color and big earrings) to a place (in Colorado) that leans toward gorpcore and neutral basics. have. shopping?
One day when I went to a local thrift store looking for part of a Halloween costume, I started looking for clothes, and I couldn’t stop. Getting rid of a lot of old stuff and slowly collecting new stuff that fits my current body, lifestyle, and style interests has been great for my mental health. Just this week, when I was out for pizza with my family, a woman approached our table and said she loved my style. It made me feel really seen!
I fully acknowledge the privilege of being given the time etc. to do this! And please pass on my renewed interest in investing in myself to SSRIs 🙂
