Microsoft put on the best Xbox showcase we’ve seen in years over the weekend. Layoffs, studio closures, and the arrival of Xbox exclusives for the PS5 had fans worried about the platform’s future, but Sunday’s showcase put a lot of those fears to rest.
Xbox CEO Phil Spencer opened the show by saying Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 — Xbox is now call of duty — Before we move on to the new announcements and gameplay, three titles stood out to me personally. Perfect Dark; Fable; and Gears of War: E-Day.
Last week we revealed most of the first-party games that would be part of this showcase, but there was one game we didn’t name. Perfect DarkThe report said that it was “not yet completed.” I hadn’t heard about the release date, so I wasn’t sure what was going to be announced at the showcase. Perfect Dark The trailer offered a ton of gameplay, with the movement and visuals looking extremely polished and without a hint of roughness. Of course, this is just a trailer, and there’s still no release date or window set nearly four years later, but it certainly seems like the game is shaping up to be great.
Last week NotepadI also have many more Fable With a planned release date of 2025, Microsoft has done just that. Fable The trailer features Matt King, popularly known as Super Hans in one of the greatest British sitcoms of all time. Peep ShowKing will play the lead character, Humphrey, who is forced out of retirement to battle a mysterious foe.
King’s appearance had me smiling from the get-go, and he added subtle irony and British humour throughout. FablePlayground Games, the developer of Forza Horizon It’s a series that has always pushed the visual boundaries of Xbox hardware, and it looks like they’ll be doing the same here.
