Switch Online’s N64 library didn’t get off to the best start, with some games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time running into a slew of emulation issues, but Nintendo rolled out an update to the app in response, and things have been slowly improving since then.
Unfortunately, one of the service’s newest releases appears to be in a tough spot at the time of release, as the Switch Online emulation of Rare’s famous first-person shooter Perfect Dark appears to be suffering from a variety of “issues” according to GoldenEye 007 enthusiasts.Grassle 00‘, Lifting the lid on canceled Xbox 360 titles.
Apparently there are a variety of issues relating to textures, lighting, performance and frame rate, online play, and even control issues like input lag, sensitivity issues, and aiming.
“Maybe I’m forgetting something… but there’s no point in playing this version. It’s awful. It’s like playing on an emulator from 2007. You’re better off playing the PC version instead.”

Nintendo’s track record with its NSO service has shown that popular releases such as this are usually followed by an application update to iron out any bugs or glitches. The release of Perfect Dark on the Switch Online service also marks the release of a “mature” version of the N64 app, which is available to download now from the Switch eShop.
