FromSoftware is rolling out a new update for Elden Ring that adds several features ahead of the release of the DLC “Shadow of the Erdtree.”
Patch 1.12 will be deployed following server maintenance today, June 20, preparing Elden Ring for the release of Shadow of the Erdtree on June 21. This is an update to the Elden Ring base game and serves as the day-one patch for the highly-anticipated expansion.
Patch 1.12 adds new inventory features, including the ability to mark newly acquired items with an “!” and a new tab called “Recent Items” that allows players to quickly see what items they’ve recently acquired.
Other new features include the new Summon Pool feature, where active summon pools will carry over to NG+, as well as the ability to enable/disable individual summon pools in the newly added Map Features menu. FromSoftware says that only the active summon pool will be selected when using the little golden statue.
Five new hairstyles have also been added to the game, which can be selected during character creation by using the Cloudy Mirror Stand or by using Renara’s regeneration ability.
Shadow of the Erdtree is set to add a wealth of new content to the popular role-playing game, but like FromSoftware’s previous games, Dark Souls and Bloodborne, accessing the DLC won’t be as simple as selecting it in a menu – players will need to accomplish a few unremarkable feats beforehand. IGN’s review of Shadow of the Erdtree gave it a 10/10 rating, and we said: “Like the previous base game, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree raises the bar for single-player DLC expansions, condensing everything that made the base game a groundbreaking RPG into a relatively compact 20-25 hour campaign, while providing fantastic new challenges for dedicated fans to enjoy.”
