Prince Charles’ office takes action to protect Buckingham Palace from major threats
King Charles III’s office has given fans a glimpse into the security arrangements at Buckingham Palace in a new video.
The royal family’s social media accounts shared a behind-the-scenes video on Thursday about the protective measures.
This incredible video was captioned, “The Restoration Programme is a 10-year initiative to make Buckingham Palace fire and flood safe, make it fit for purpose and preserve this historic building for future generations.”
In the video, fans can find out more about “Buckingham Palace’s newly restored East Wing, which opens to the public for the first time this summer.” Special guided tours of the main floors will run throughout July and August.
The east wing contains the palace’s main façade and central balcony, where the monarch and members of the royal family have met in public since 1851. It was completed after more than five years of renovation work.
Small visitor groups can visit the rooms and spaces, including the main corridor that runs the length of the wing. The East Wing was first home to Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and their children, and is still used for official Royal meetings and events.
The new video was released after Kate Middleton appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, marking the Duchess’ first official outing in six months.
Prince Charles has been undergoing preventive chemotherapy since announcing his cancer diagnosis in March.
