Android 15 Beta 3 introduces a new wallpaper picker that lets you share AI backgrounds generated by your Pixel 8+.
The wallpaper picker/editor in Android 15 better differentiates between the lock screen and the home screen through a card-based UI. When you tap, you get a full-screen preview without the two buttons at the bottom, and you can zoom in/out to adjust it.
Tap the checkmark in the top right corner to return to card view. “Set Wallpaper” is the final step, where you can choose to apply it to both surfaces or just one specific surface. As before, you can repeat this process to set an independent background. (It would be useful to streamline this process a bit.)
This new card UI is especially useful on the Pixel Fold for showing a preview of the interior screen.
When interacting with AI wallpapers (h/t Follow When you’re on a thread, you’ll see a pencil and a share button at the bottom. The edit icon is an existing feature for quickly changing the prompt, but sharing is new to these generated threads. This feature already exists in Emoji Workshop and is in response to a big request from our users.
As of Beta 3, you can open the system share sheet, but you cannot currently download or upload wallpaper files.
