Apple has confirmed that iOS 18 beta 2 will be available next Monday, exactly two weeks after iOS 18 is announced at WWDC 2024. Notably, Apple has confirmed that two new features will be available in iOS 18 beta 2: iPhone Mirroring and SharePlay screen sharing.
As we’ve covered, some features announced by Apple for iOS 18 will not be available in the iOS 18 Beta. Some of these features will not be available until later this year, after iOS 18 is released to the public, but others will be added through the beta testing process.
Today, Apple announced that Apple Intelligence and other iOS 18 features will not be available in the EU this year due to DMA. As part of the announcement, Apple spokesperson Fred Sainz confirmed that iOS 18 beta 2 will be released next week, adding iPhone Mirroring and SharePlay screen sharing.via The Verge).
iPhone Mirroring allows Mac users to mirror their iPhone display on their Mac, including controlling the iPhone, receiving iPhone notifications on the Mac, and seamless drag-and-drop between Mac and iPhone.
Meanwhile, here are Apple’s details about SharePlay screen sharing: “Enhanced screen sharing lets you draw on someone else’s screen to see what they can do on yours, or take control of their screen and do it yourself.”
In addition to adding these new features, iOS 18 beta 2 is likely to bring a variety of other changes, including fixing a number of bugs and tweaking other new features.
iOS 18 beta 2 is expected to be released to developers on Monday, likely alongside the second betas of iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, tvOS 18, visionOS 2, and watchOS 11. The public beta will be available in July, and Apple has said multiple times that beta testing of select Apple Intelligence features will begin this summer.
