Needless to say, Walsh’s tweet, which garnered nearly 5,000 likes and over 1,600 retweets, packs a lot of bigotry and ignorance into less than 140 characters.
But Walsh’s comments weren’t just harmful; they were factually incorrect.

“I know you’re saying this because you don’t know anyone in the LGBT community,” he wrote. “If you did, you’d quickly realize they are some of the most genuine and kind-hearted people alive on this planet.”
Luckily, Manny’s tweet containing his father’s message went far more viral than Walsh’s original hateful comment, garnering over 12,000 retweets and nearly 60,000 likes.
Gutierrez’s father’s love for his son reflects a broader shift among parents who are accepting and supporting their LGBTQ children.
