ZANUTIX Consulting Limited, a technology company operating in Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, is making strategic investments in artificial intelligence, machine learning and advanced cybersecurity measures, all with the aim of positioning the company as a strong competitor in the regional technology market.
We started as a small business specializing in software development and testing and IT consulting and have grown to become a company specializing in a wide range of services including IT project management, IT audits, risk and governance, data management, business continuity, cybersecurity, network design and implementation.
Zanutix is only five years old, but its founders are already planning to expand the company’s service offerings to steal sales from regional competitors. First, he wants to secure a larger share of the tech market in Jamaica and Trinidad, and then expand Zanutix’s footprint into oil-rich Guyana.

Jamaica’s Data Protection Regulation came into effect in June, and many private and government entities have taken steps in recent months to comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act, including upgrading their internal systems and hiring data controllers in high-risk sectors such as finance, healthcare, education, tourism and information and communications technology services.
Meanwhile, work is underway in Trinidad and Tobago to fully operationalize the country’s Personal Information Protection Act and Electronic Transactions Act by the end of this year.
Data protection laws have been enacted to protect personal data processed by organisations and individuals. These laws state that personal data must be collected with explicit consent, for a specific, lawful purpose.
Thompson said his staff has the expertise to navigate a complex regulatory environment and help existing clients acquire new customers while maintaining compliance with standards such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Jamaica Data Protection Act (JDPA) and the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS).
Currently, Zanutix Consulting Limited’s team consists of 127 professionals.

Other key business areas that Zanutix is targeting in its growth plans include cybersecurity, cloud solutions, business process automation, data management and software development.
Globally, cyber events such as ransomware, data breaches and IT outages have replaced business interruption and natural disasters as the top concern for businesses.
Jamaica is experiencing an increase in cyber attacks, with the latest report indicating that the country will see 43 million attempted cyber attacks in 2023. Meanwhile, Latin America and the Caribbean will see 200 billion attempted attacks in 2023, accounting for 14.5% of the total number of attacks reported globally last year.
“With cyber threats becoming more frequent and sophisticated, businesses are making the security of their digital assets their top priority. Our cybersecurity services are in high demand as organizations look to protect data, comply with regulations and build a solid security framework. Beyond cybersecurity, we are also seeing an increase in demand for broader IT security services such as risk management, IT governance and compliance services,” he said.
According to Thompson, Zanutix’s growth over the past five years has been largely driven by adopting a comprehensive, proactive approach to IT security tailored to the unique needs of each client.
