On a recent visit to Epcot, I noticed that the guide maps in Japanese, German, and French were no longer available at the park entrance.
EPCOT Removes Multiple Guide Map Languages
Guests who would like guide maps in Japanese, German, or French are no longer available at the EPCOT entrance. These maps will still be available at Guest Relations.
According to Guest Relations, this change is due to low demand for guide maps in these languages, and by making them available by request only, they are helping them understand the volume needed. This change is temporary, and maps in these languages will eventually be available again at the front of the park once demand has been assessed. However, there is no projection for when the maps will be available at the entrances of EPCOT again.
We can confirm that the change only affects EPCOT for now, but will eventually take effect at all Walt Disney World theme parks, giving the company time to gather data and determine how many maps it needs to order in each language.
The changes come on the heels of the release of a new EPCOT guide map, announced following the completion of years of renovations at the park. Disney is expected to implement these changes whenever a new map is released, meaning the Japanese, German and French maps may be removed from the entrances of Magic Kingdom park after Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens on June 28.
