Software maker CDK says it will take “several days” to get its systems back online after successive cyberattacks, as car dealerships and auto shops across the US that rely on the company’s software enter their second week of disruption.
In a statement, CDK spokeswoman Lisa Feeney confirmed that the company “has begun the process of restoring” its systems, and that it “continues to actively engage with our customers and provide them with alternative ways of doing business.”
No specific timetable for recovery has been set. A pre-recorded phone message to CDK customers heard by TechCrunch on Monday said the company “will share the timeline once confirmed.”
“No DMS integration tasks can be performed,” the pre-recorded message said, referring to the company’s main dealer management software, which remains largely inoperable.
CDK, which makes customer management software for car dealerships and auto shops to handle customer and vehicle records, provides its technology to about 15,000 dealers across North America.
