To celebrate International Pineapple Day, Dole Packaged Foods is: Dole Can It Pineapple Snacks Hackathonis a three-week competition that invites canned pineapple fans to reinvent the timeless staple and create their own original snack recipes. Each week participants are asked to submit their best creations based on a different theme, with all entrants given a chance to win prizes, culminating in the naming of a Snack Hacks Grand Prize Winner.
The Dole Can-It Pineapple Snacks Hackathon follows on from the recipe competition Dole spearheaded in 1925 that popularized Pineapple Upside-Down Cake and aims to find the next irresistible snack that will inspire the next generation.
“For decades, Dole has been making quality pineapple a staple in households across the country and around the world, helping consumers find unique ways to incorporate our juicy canned pineapple into their everyday recipes. Creating delicious new ways for consumers to enjoy pineapple is in our company’s DNA, which is why we can’t wait to hear the unique ideas our great fans come up with for snacking on pineapple,” said Orje Hody, senior vice president and managing director, Dole Packaged Foods Americas.
Entries for the Dole Can It Pineapple Snacks Hackathon will be judged based on creativity, desire, presentation and theme. Participants can share up to three Dole Canned Pineapple Snacks Hack recipes (one per week) along with a short video of no more than 30 seconds on TikTok or Instagram using the hashtags #DoleSnackHackathonContest and #CanItPineapple and tagging @DoleSunshine.

A panel of fan-favourite foodies will judge all entries, including fan-favourite food creator Faith Christensen, TV personality and social media chef Lois Bethel and Chef James Bickmore Hutt, Executive Chef and Director of Culinary Innovation at Dole.
Judges will award a winning recipe for each theme, with the grand prize winner enjoying a two-night getaway at the Stay Pineapple hotel, known for its pineapples, a summer supply of Dole canned pineapples as an ongoing snack, and bragging rights for being the “best snack hack.”
