Say goodbye to PlayStation 5. PlayStation 6 seems to be much closer than we ever imagined.
This is according to documents indicating that the release of Sony’s next PlayStation console is already imminent. I believe that progress never stops. I wish my wallet was like that.
Let’s take a quick look back at successive PlayStations. The period between PlayStation consoles is typically around 5-7 years. The PS2 came out a little over five years after the original PlayStation was released, the PS3 came out six and a half years after the PS2, and the PS4 came out seven years after his PS3. PS4 and PS5.
Assuming it’s another 7, maybe 8 years until the console launches, the PlayStation 6 should arrive in 2028 at the earliest.
On page 8 of the 22-page document, Sony claims that Microsoft has “offered to continue offering Activision games exclusively on PlayStation until 2027.”
document continues: “By the time SIE launches its next-gen PlayStation console (probably [redacted]), it would lose access to Call of Duty and other Activision titles, making it highly vulnerable to consumer switch and subsequent competitive decline. ”
The exact PS6 release date has been compiled from the documents, but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what a 2027 or 2028 launch for the next PlayStation might mean.
Of course, that’s still a long way off. For now, keep an eye on the PlayStation 5 Slim and PlayStation 5 Pro. Sony will undoubtedly be pitching us these products in the next few years to get a little extra money from us while development of the PlayStation is completed. 6.
