This week I learned that Bethesda is doing something rather unusual in its history, distributing Starfield reviews a full two weeks early and distributing them not just to news outlets, but to many content creators large and small. pointed out.
But with two more weeks to go and with these copies out there, there will likely be some Starfield leaks, but even if they’re minor, Bethesda still knows they’re leaking. You don’t seem satisfied at all. Matt FraleyBethesda’s senior director of public relations tweeted yesterday:
It’s not quite clear what exactly he’s referring to, but yesterday’s discourse turned into something very silly, centered around the leaked title screen of the game. It’s the planets, the Starfield logo, and some menu options. This may be the “small and meaningless” type of thing he refers to here. Former Diablo 2 developer Mark Kahn, who was recently fired from Firefall developer Red 5, said the simple title screen represents “a rushing shipping deadline” or “a team that doesn’t care.” and everyone tweeted about it starting to lash out at him. Day. Some PlayStation fans took advantage of the leak to make similar points.
Of course, this is very stupid and everyone started sharing the title screens of other games from Skyrim to Elden Rings with a simple title screen that no one cares about.
The only drama I’ve seen recently was a creator (whose name will be withheld) sharing his impressions of the first 15 hours of the game on Discord, which was leaked (I won’t go into that ). There are probably some story leaks flying around, but I haven’t read it and I don’t intend to, so I don’t even know how accurate it is.
With so many review copies published for so long, this was kind of inevitable, but I hope Bethesda doesn’t change this very good policy on how these codes are distributed. Masu. Burn those who leaked for sure. But this was a great way to give me enough time to review the game.
As I said before, the only thing anyone with a copy of the review can share is the embargo date of August 31st at 12:00 AM ET. No impressions or screenshots including the title screen, no matter how small. As you can see, even if title screen When people get hung up on just a fraction of the content of a game this big, it can cause some very silly drama around its release.
Hopefully no more leaks in the next 10 days, but I wouldn’t be too shocked. If there are any, I hope they remain minor, not serious.
