Samsung has announced the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic Astro Edition, a limited edition of its recently launched smartwatch. The Astro Edition smartwatch features an astrolabe-inspired design on the bezel. Astrolabes are ancient tools that helped scientists and travelers tell the time and find their way while traveling.
The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic Astro Edition will be sold in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region. This is Samsung’s tribute to the region’s heritage of innovative and scientific contributions in astronomy, mathematics and time. Limited edition smartwatches will be available in Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Turkiye.
The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic Astro Edition comes in one size (47mm) and features an “astrobezel” depicting constellations, stars, and other celestial bodies. Samsung has also added astrolabe-inspired features to the smartwatch’s software, including a compass complication on the dial and moon/sun phases. The watch allows users to track the movement of the sun and moon directly from the wrist thanks to its unique dial.
According to Samsung, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic Astro Edition comes with an exclusive purchase offer that includes an additional fabric strap, Astro Edition collectibles, and access to Samsung’s VIP-exclusive promotional store. The company has yet to announce pricing for the smartwatch, but it will be available from Samsung.com starting August 2, 2023.
