With the release of Season of the Witch, Bungie has added a tribute to late developer Cory Barron, who worked on both the original Destiny and Destiny 2.
Barron has worked at Bungie for over eight years. He first joined Destiny in 2015 as Senior Technical UI/UX Designer, then Destiny 2 in 2018. He contributed to the industry leading UI for Destiny 2.
Tragically, Barron died six weeks after being diagnosed with lung cancer in September 2022. his memorial page. Although he is no longer with us, his legacy lives on. With a heartfelt gesture, Bungie paid tribute to the gaming memories he contributed.
The latest Destiny 2 update, released on Tuesday earlier this week, added a touching tribute to Baron in-game.

The “Destinations” tab of the Destiny 2 Director Map has a series of dots running downwards on the right edge of the screen. These are actually binary his code, which when translated spells out the name “Cory Barron”. A filled diamond represents 1 and an empty diamond represents 0. Binary code is below.

Prior to joining Bungie, Barron worked for Sony Santa Monica for over nine years, where he contributed to the development of several God of War games. His roles include Interface Technical Artist for God of War 2, Lead His Interface Technical Artist for God of War 3, and Lead UI for God of War: Ascension.
