Armored Core 6 is here great review Despite being a FromSoftware title, the initial player numbers are solid given that it was never set to release on the scale of Elden Ring.
However, once the player jumps into the game, they quickly find that the game has a very solid wall, the first boss of the game. It’s his AH12 HC helicopter, which is proving to be a test for new and seasoned Armored core players alike.
One of the main issues with the first boss is that it’s too early in the game to specifically designate your mech for combat. This is literally a tutorial, so stick to the loadouts given and focus purely on the mechanics. The mechanics are… difficult. My advice is to stay on the ground as much as possible, balance yourself and the boss’s stagger gauge, and keep the boss from falling off with regular light fire. Use the environment for cover and use assault boosts and melee attacks for maximum damage chance.
Some say this boss fight is one of the hardest in FromSoftware’s history of hard boss fights, even though it’s the equivalent of a game tutorial. This is seen as a “cull” for new players, especially content creators who want to play new and hot content for their audience but struggle to get through it on their streams.
However, there are other, more difficult bosses in the game. Among them is the much later Batreus.
Players report taking anywhere from 90 minutes to 5 hours to beat the first boss, especially if they’re new to the genre. Some ask for a tone down, but since this is from software, unless there’s some direct bug, it seems unlikely, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Sounds harsh, but it’s the crucible the game needs. Beating that boss gives you a huge sense of relief and sets you up to expect the rest of the game to destroy you in a whole new way. The point is, don’t give up early. If you’re happy you got through it, you’ll probably enjoy the rest of the game. If you get frustrated and quit well, I probably can’t blame you, but it’s probably worth sticking around.
