Heading into Labor Day weekend, some waterfront businesses could be affected by Hurricane Franklin.
Swimming was prohibited from Long Beach to Montauk on Wednesday due to the storm.

Beach Burger manager Jerry Anselmo said the Long Beach restaurant was operating slower than usual because of the swimming ban.
“It definitely quiets down our business for sure,” Anselmo says. “We’re looking forward to having people from out of town come in. They see this type of situation and retreat.”
The ban was put in place due to strong rip currents caused by Hurricane Franklin in the Atlantic Ocean.
Swimming was also prohibited at state park beaches in Suffolk County and at Cupsaug Beach.
It is not yet clear when swimming will be allowed to resume at these beaches.
