Mexican Independence Day celebrations will soon begin in Chicago.
The city is preparing for a number of celebrations next weekend, including the annual 26th Street Mexican Independence Day Parade, considered one of the largest parades in the Midwest.

This year’s parade will be special in that it will be held on the actual day of Mexico’s Independence Day, and for the first time ever on a Saturday.
Each state of Mexico will be represented under the theme “Tu Mexico, Tu Chicago.”

What is Mexican Independence Day?
Mexican Independence Day is celebrated on September 16 and marks the anniversary of Mexico’s declaration of independence from Spain.
