Just last week, we heard rumors that Nintendo’s next console (still tentatively called the Switch 2) was being demoed to select developers at Gamescom 2023. eurogamer and VGC It was hinted that the console would showcase an improved version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but details about what these improvements actually mean were sparse. Well, rumors are constantly swirling and now more reported details are being shared.
Latest rumors come from recent information Nate the Hate In the podcast, the host claimed to have been told that BOTW was running at 4K 60fps during a Gamescom tech demo, and the show highlighted that “load times were erased.” Again, this doesn’t imply that the Switch launch title will be re-released on the next hardware, just that it was used to showcase the successor’s technical improvements.
There’s also a claim that the demo utilized DLSS 3.5 (Nvidia’s real-time AI upscaling technology), but it may not “utilize the full feature set” of the 3.5 version, such as frame generation. This is something that has been proposed as a successor to the Switch for several years now, and it’s certainly an interesting prospect to see a more powerful 3.5 version of him arrive.
Later in the conversation, the host said that the date March 2024 came up during a lot of conversation, but he could not say whether this was an announcement or a release date. Rumors earlier this year suggested that the Switch 2 was aiming for a late 2024 release.

This is certainly very exciting stuff, but like the original report, we have to stress that this is all based on sources and hearsay, and has not been even remotely confirmed by Nintendo at this time. . Additionally, if you believe these specs, keep in mind that what was reportedly shown off at Gamescom was a tech demo and may not necessarily have the same features as the final console. Worth it.
