Brooklyn motorists who stepped outside to see the remains of a brief assault on a bus driver on Friday morning were stunned when their cars crashed and piled on top of each other.
An MTA bus driver crashed into at least three parked cars in the Mill Basin area around 10 a.m., authorities said. Traces show the car was pushed onto a nearby lawn and pushed up the front steps of a home.
Surveillance camera video captured the morning crash along Avenue U and Mill Avenue. A B47 bus was caught on video smashing into a parked car, causing at least two to become pancakes.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
Margaret Blair, whose home was almost hit during the disturbance, claims the driver of the B47 bus did not stop after the crash and continued on the road.
Mr Blair said: “I heard a rustling noise and thought it was a recycling truck. When I heard the car alarm I knew it was something serious.” “We all jumped out and saw a car on the grass and a car on top of another car. What do we know? ”
The cause of the bus driver’s death is unknown, but transportation officials said he was removed from service.
“The bus driver involved was immediately removed from service and sent for routine drug and alcohol testing to determine his fitness for duty,” New York City Transit Authority President Richard Davey said in a statement.
“We are grateful that no one was injured in this accident, and we are cooperating fully with the NYPD’s investigation to determine the facts,” the statement continued.
