Thousands of car dealerships are struggling for business this week after two cyber attacks on industry software providers.
A cyberattack on CDK Global, which provides software to about 15,000 auto dealerships in the United States and Canada, crippled sales, financing and payroll systems at many dealerships. Some car dealers have been forced to do business the old-fashioned way.
“Everything is a mess. We have to do everything by hand,” said Kevin Redd, a car salesman at AutoNation Honda Dulles in Sterling, Va. “It’s unpleasant for everyone: us, management, customers.”
