The study, led by Sophia Shaikh of the SETI Institute in California, will help narrow down the sources of these cosmic radio signals and provide further insight into how they are produced.
The prevailing theory is that FRBs are produced by magnetars, neutron stars with extremely strong magnetic fields.
However, new evidence suggests that FRBs could also be created by collisions between neutron stars or by the merger of white dwarfs.
