The colliding galaxies, called UGC 05028 and UGC 05029, collectively known as Arp 300, are currently in the process of merging and performing a cosmic dance. The smaller of the two, UGC 05028, is pulled and twisted by the stronger gravitational field of the larger UGC 05029, leaving the former with an irregular structure. Unfortunately, this structure is not visible from ground-based telescopes, but it is clearly visible in new images sent back from the Hubble Space Telescope.
