Adobe officially launched Photoshop for the web on Wednesday for all users with paid plans. web version, Which has been in beta for about two yearsnow available with Firefly-powered AI tools such as Generative Packing and Generative Dilation.
The tools in the web toolbar are group-based and workflow-based, such as reproducing an image or selecting an object, the company said. Photoshop for the web also displays the full names of the tools for beginners instead of showing the description on the tooltip.
Users can easily collaborate on files by sharing links with someone else, even if they don’t have a subscription, Adobe said.
In May, the company announced Firefly-powered features like Generative Expand, which lets you expand an image and fill it with content based on a prompt, and Generative Fill, which can add or remove objects while keeping the image’s context intact. At the time, these features were only available in the beta version of Adobe Photoshop. Now, it will be available on the web version as well, which could be a platform for Adobe to release faster updates or test features.
Adobe said the web version contains the majority of tools from the desktop including a contextual taskbar, which suggests next steps and tools based on workflow. However, it is still missing the patch tool, pen tool, smart object support, and polygon. The company said it is working on bringing these tools to Photoshop for the web.
The company said the edgethat it has no plans to offer a free version or free version of Photoshop on the web at this time.
