The creator of an audio deepfake of U.S. President Joe Biden urging people not to vote in this week’s New Hampshire primary has been suspended by Eleven Labs, according to people familiar with the matter.

Eleven Labs learned of Pindrop’s findings this week and is investigating, the people said. Once the creator of the deepfake was traced, the user’s account was suspended, said the person, who requested anonymity because the information is private.
ElevenLabs, a startup that uses artificial intelligence software to replicate voices in more than 20 languages, declined to comment. Earlier this week, ElevenLab announced an $80 million funding round from investors including Andreessen Horowitz and Sequoia Capital. CEO Matti Staniszewski said the latest funding valued his startup at $1.1 billion.
