At the bottom of the list of Air India’s biggest international routes, based on seat availability, is its scheduled flight between Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi (DEL) and Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal (KTM). In July, India’s national carrier will operate 186 round trip flights between the two cities, a journey of around two hours.

Air India operates three flights a day using a 180-seat Airbus A320 aircraft. Air India competes with four other airlines on this popular route. Two other Indian airlines, IndiGo Air and Vistara, operate multiple flights daily between the two cities. Nepalese airline Bhutan operates two flights a day, while Nepal (Airlines) operates one flight a day between the two cities.
Air India will offer 33,480 round-trip seats in July, providing over 17 million available seat miles (ASMs).

Fourth on the list is scheduled service between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR). Air India will operate 124 round trip flights westbound. LHR is a long-standing route for Air India, which operates two flights daily with its 328-seater Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

The major Indian airport is also served by British Airways using a range of aircraft including Boeing 777-200, Boeing 787-8 and -9. The 9h30 journey is also served by Virgin Atlantic (once a day) using a Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Air India is offering 40,662 round trip seats in July, serving around 183 million ASMs.
