This is a very innovative concept, and I think many people will be happy if it spreads to other airlines.
Corendon Airlines adds adult-only seating zone on A350
Leisure airline Corendon Airlines will begin flying between Amsterdam (AMS) and Curacao (CUR) from November 2023 using Airbus A350-900s leased from Spanish charter airline World2Fly. This plane has 432 seats for him and is all economy.
This new long-haul service will allow airlines to try new concepts. Specifically, Corendon Airlines has introduced an adults-only zone on board for those aged 16 and over. As the airline explains, this is aimed at travelers without children and business travelers who want a quieter environment to work. The airline also claims this will have a positive effect on parents as well, as they will have less to worry about disturbing others.
How does this concept work? The front cabin between doors 1 and 2 on the A350-900 will be an adult-only seating area. There are 9 seats with extra legroom and 93 standard seats for a total of 102 seats.
As you can imagine, there is a charge to sit in this space.
- Standard seats in the adult zone cost EUR 45 each way.
- Extra legroom seats in the adult zone cost €100 each way
Corendon Airlines Founder Athirai Usur explains the initiative:
We are also the first Dutch airline to introduce an adults-only zone, responding to the appeal of travelers seeking extra peace of mind on their flights. We are also a company, and we think this could have a positive effect on parents traveling with small children.

This seems like a sensible and fair concept
Many people have unrealistic expectations of other people’s children and babies when traveling. Does anyone like sitting next to other people’s babies? No, probably not. But at the end of the day, air travel is a form of communal transportation, so it caters for all kinds of people, from crying babies to spontaneous business travelers to those who may have had too much alcohol. Have to.
It’s always a little funny when people pant and gasp for no reason when they see a baby nearby (whether in economy or premium cabin). Because it’s totally unrealistic to expect to be able to control who sits next to you when you’re on an airplane.
All things considered, I think this concept is a great idea.
- It makes sense for airlines to charge a premium for seats in the front of the cabin
- This gives people a little more control over themselves and for the type of person who gets really annoyed when someone sits next to someone else’s child, this offers them a great alternative
- The rest of the plane has comparable seats so nothing is taken away from your family

Conclusion
Corendon Airlines is trying something new with its upcoming transatlantic Airbus A350 flight between Amsterdam and Amsterdam.Curacao. Airlines designate forward cabins as adults only. This means that there are 102 seats that can be reserved for an additional fee to ensure that young travelers are seated at the front of the cabin rather than near them.
I think this is a perfectly fair effort and one that benefits both sides. Those with a strong desire not to sit near young travelers can pay extra for that privilege, and families are deprived of nothing.
What are your thoughts on the concept of an adult-only seating zone?
