ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – All lanes of Interstate 40 West are closed at 12th Street in Albuquerque due to a crash, according to the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
According to Albuquerque Fire Rescue, two large trucks collided at westbound Interstate 40 and Rio Grande Avenue. One of the large trucks’ saddle fuel tanks ruptured, spilling diesel fuel for about 200 yards across all lanes of the interstate.
Authorities said hazardous materials crews sprayed foam on the roadway and the scene was turned over to New Mexico State Police and the New Mexico Department of Transportation.
No injuries were reported.
Longer delays are expected Thursday evening and drivers are asked to find alternative routes.
