Steve Wozniak co-founded Apple Computer with Steve Jobs.
Mexico City:
Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak was hospitalized in Mexico City on Wednesday with a possible stroke, Mexican media reported, but a TMZ report citing sources said the illness was not as serious as dizziness. It has been suggested that this may be due to a seizure.
The 73-year-old scientist and technology entrepreneur was scheduled to attend a World Business Forum event in Mexico’s capital’s Santa Fe district on Wednesday afternoon.
Event organizers did not respond to requests for comment. Wozniak was scheduled to speak at a press conference at 4:20 p.m. local time.
Reuters could not immediately confirm reports that Wozniak had been hospitalized.
U.S. media outlet TMZ, citing sources, reported that Wozniak finished his speech, but then told his wife that he didn’t feel well. She reportedly insisted that he go to the hospital.
TMZ reports that Wozniak may have suffered from dizziness.
In 1976, Wozniak founded the fledgling Apple Computer Inc. with his more famous business partner, Steve Jobs, the prominent investor and longtime Apple CEO who died in 2011.
Their business pioneered personal computing and became the world’s most valuable company, known for the design and functionality of a variety of consumer electronics, including laptops, desktop computers, and iPhone mobile phones.
Officials at Wozniak’s website, woz.org, did not respond to requests for comment.
