ASHEVILLE – The warmth of Disney World is just a little closer to western North Carolina.
Asheville Regional Airport announces the addition of nonstop flights to Orlando International Airport by Allegiant Airlines, starting service in May 2024, providing access to world-class attractions such as Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and Universal Orlando The aircraft is scheduled to land at its home port.
“Allegiant Airlines is excited to offer new destination options to Allegiant travelers departing this spring,” Allegiant Airlines spokesperson Drew Wells said in a news release. We’re excited. The launch of our new services celebrates our success in these markets.”
“The addition of new stations also makes us a more dynamic airline. We are committed to opening the door to accessible travel in as many markets as possible, and we are proud of the low prices Allegiant offers. We know our customers value our direct flight options.”
The new nonstop service will bring the Asheville Regional Airport to a total of 27 nonstop destinations. Other nonstop options include options to Denver, Minneapolis, Chicago, Atlanta, and Newark, New Jersey. The airport also offers nonstop flights to Florida airports in Sanford, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Key West.
One-way fares at Asheville Regional Airport start at $49, according to Allegiant Airlines’ website.
A total of 717,140 passengers have boarded flights through Asheville Regional Airport through August of this year, according to monthly traffic reports. This airport served more than 1.8 million passengers in 2022, making it the third busiest airport in North Carolina.

New Asheville Airport Parking
It should be a little easier to find parking when catching a flight to Orlando. Asheville Regional Airport recently opened Shuttle Lot South, a new 600-space parking lot serviced by airport shuttles, in time for the holiday season.
The lot currently has 500 openings, with another 100 to be added during the first quarter of 2024, and an entrance on Terminal Drive will also open, according to an Asheville Regional Airport news release.
This parking lot is located off Terminal Drive, right next to the Marathon gas station and across from the Western North Carolina Agriculture Center. Drivers can enter the parking lot through Rental Drive.
What are the parking options?
Parking options at Asheville Airport vary, and depending on whether you’re picking up or catching a flight, you may want to park in a specific spot. The options are:
- The daily lot is located directly next to the terminal and also features a 1,305-space parking deck.
- For those visiting the airport, hourly lots are available adjacent to the airport terminal.
- There will be parking available for two shuttle buses. One is located off Airport Park Road and the new shuttle lot is located off Rental Car Drive.
- Please arrive early to park in the shuttle parking lot. The average wait time for the shuttle is 10-20 minutes, and the airport recommends arriving two hours in advance.
- For trips longer than 30 days, you must call 828-209-2125 to make arrangements to leave your vehicle.
- To access the cell phone lot, enter Airport Park Road and immediately turn left onto the cell phone lot.
How much is the parking fee?
- All airport parking fees start at a standard rate of $2 for the first hour and $2 for each hour thereafter.
- Parking for more than 4 hours is subject to a flat fee of $12 for daily or shuttle parking and $15 for garage parking.
- Shuttles and daily lots cost up to $72, with 7th day free.
- Parking costs $90 for one week, with the seventh day free.
- All lots are credit card only.
