ASUS ROG Evangelion and Lion
The board has a typo that hasn’t been fixed in over a month.
ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero motherboard, the flagship component of the EVA-02 series inspired by the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, may offer a small unexpected feature. There is a typo on the I/O cover. “Evange”n“Lion” is misspelled. Unlike the adjacent LED lighting parts, this particular component is not easily replaceable, so users have limited options to deal with this problem, such as using a black marker.
The EVA-02 series includes a variety of PC components, including motherboards, graphics cards, power supplies, and cases. Users can also access peripherals such as keyboards and headsets. A quick check shows that only motherboards are affected by this particular issue.
Once assembled, this error will not appear in the completed EVA-02 system as this component is covered by a fan.
Unfortunately, this error continues to occur across models that have already shipped and is still present in official promotional materials. This oversight went unnoticed for a while, but Early unboxing video Researchers since September have already clearly clarified this issue. Adding to the problem, this high-end motherboard shows the correct spelling of “Evangelion” multiple times, and only one has a typo.
I’m curious if ASUS intends to address and replace the incorrectly printed components. You can expect ASUS to pay close attention to detail in future versions of their products. On the positive side, the RTX 4090 EVA-02 is not affected by this issue. This is especially important since graphics cards cost between $2,300 and $3,000, depending on the source, and motherboards cost around $700.
