BG3 players explained why all users should always make sure they have their summoned dog Scratch for battle.
Scratch has long proven to be a companion to the fan-favorite Baldur’s Gate 3. In addition to their role as man’s best friend, dogs have some useful abilities.
One such skill revolves around his hobby of sniffing out treasure chests, traps, etc. around the world. However, players find four-legged familiars useful, especially when it comes to keeping allies alive in the heat of battle.

However, some believe that “Baldur’s Gate 3” players are not making the most of this dog. One person explained the reason in his increasingly popular Reddit post.
BG3 players say it’s good to always have Scratch summoned
reddit user jade brew He’s reportedly played Baldur’s Gate 3 solo five times and is currently working on the multiplayer campaign with a friend. Inspired by a recent discussion at a party about the usefulness of Scratch, a Redditor shared a post outlining other benefits of constantly calling your dog.

As mentioned above, users pointed out that Scratch’s help action stabilizes downed party members with “essentially a free action.”

Another boon for players using Scratch is his bite’s ability to “force a concentration saving throw.” In other words, a successful bit may give you a fifth chance to “break the spellcaster’s concentration each round.”
Finally, when not in combat, the dog will “attempt a fifth awareness check” if all four party members fail.

In the comments section, several BG3 players said that they know Scratch is useful, but often forget to summon it.
Meanwhile, another person said they call for Scratch and other pets every time they go for a run. “I use every pet I can every run, especially in honor mode.”
However, Scratch doesn’t always have great situational awareness, so players should be careful when playing fetch with their in-game furry friends.
