Where you board buses in Philadelphia is changing starting Thursday.
Philadelphia announced last week that it would move bus stops for Megabus, Greyhound and other airlines from near the heart of the Old Town district to near Penn’s Landing along the Delaware River waterfront.
Starting Thursday, Nov. 16, the curbside bus stop at 6th Avenue and Market Street has been moved to the corner of Spring Garden Street and Christopher Columbus Boulevard.
Officials said the move was taken to address safety concerns and congestion issues on SEPTA bus routes.
Where can I catch the bus now?
Bus companies affected by this change include FlixBus, Greyhound, Coach USA/Megabus, and Peter Pan.
Peter Pan, FlixBus, and Greyhound currently operate on the south curb of Spring Garden Street and on both sides of Front Street, while Megabus operates on the north curb of Spring Garden Street, adjacent to the Spring Garden Station exit. It will operate under the I-95 overpass. Station on the Market Frankford Line.
On Thursday morning, at least one greyhound rider said he could find few signs at the new location.

Why are bus stops moving?
City officials said last week that the measure would solve congestion problems on the SEPTA bus route and daily traffic on Market Street. He also said the new bus stop location near Penn’s Landing is only a temporary relocation until the first quarter of 2024.
SEPTA originally announced in August that buses would be skipping the 6 o’clock stop.th Market Street to avoid crowding issues. The Old Town stop was installed when the city’s previous bus stop near Chinatown closed earlier this year.
“The volume and nature of complaints has made the situation at Sixth Avenue and Market Street completely unsustainable,” said Mike Carroll, deputy managing director of the Office of Transportation, Infrastructure and Sustainability (OTIS). Ta. “The Kenney Administration is particularly concerned about the high concentration of critical federal agencies, their employees, and people engaged in critical activities in our neighborhoods. As such, the city is moving intercity bus service to Market Street this fall. We have committed to relocating from the 600 block of . Efforts to find an off-street location are underway, but as additional time will be required, a temporary location change is needed as soon as possible.”
Officials also will remove the existing parking lot along Noble Street between Front Street and Christopher Columbus Boulevard to create more bus loading space, while adding space on the eastbound side of Spring Garden. He also said bike lanes could be detoured. City officials also said they are coordinating with bus companies to provide customer service spaces, such as ticketing, at boarding areas.
